Saint Lukes Children's Ministries Programs
Children's Ministries programs are offered weekly for children from Birth to grade 5, with the exception of every fourth Sunday when we invite our families to worship together.
Childcare
- Saint Luke's offers childcare every Sunday during the program year
(September 16 - June 10) at the 8:00 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. services. - Infants are in Room 203 and toddlers are in the Christopher Room.
- Children four and under who cannot sustain the worship experience or whose parents wish to worship with out their youngsters, may come to room 104 for childcare.
Traditional Sunday School
Sunday School classes are offered every Sunday at 10:00, excluding fourth Sundays.
- All children arrive at 9:50.
- Ages 2-6 stay in the Children's ministry area for the entire morning.
- We offer Godly Play for children ages 2-5 and a Firelight rotation for 6 year olds.
These ages attend children's chapel each week. - Grades 2 - Grade 5 experience a rotation model using the Firelight curriculum.
Children this age attend class during the first part of our worship service and enter the worship service at the peace to receive communion with their families. - Grades 4 & 5 have a Breakfast Club where they enjoy good food and discussion in the Terrace Room, during the Church School time

Fourth Sundays, holidays and vacation weeks:
All children are invited to attend worship in the main church with their families and enter the chapel for a children's sermon and activity from the Gospel to the Peace.
Summer Programs - June 15 - September 14
- Children are invited to attend worship in the main church and to come out to the tent on the lawn for a story, activity, and snack during the adult sermon.
- They return to the main church at the peace.
Vacation Bible School:
- Four Partner churches join Saint Luke's for an annual urban-suburban VBS.
- The dates for 2007 are Monday June 25-29
- The dates for 2008 are June 23 - 27
- We have room for 144 children
Special Children's Ministries programs throughout the year
Four times a year we offer Early Communion Orientation for families. The Episcopal church invites all baptized children to the table, therefore the age of the children attending this training is left to the discretion of the parents. Families may attend this event multiple times as questions arise between birth and grade 5.
- The program includes a 5:00 p.m.Wednesday Night dinner designed to illuminate the imagery Christ used in the last supper and how it relates to our Eucharist.
- Invitations are sent out and the dates are published in Tidings.
Saint Francis Day Sunday October 7, 2007
Blessing of the Animals in Sunday Worship - No traditional Church School.
All Saints program for children Sunday October 4, 2007 - TBA.
Christmas Pageant:
4:00 PM Sunday December 16, 2007.
Every child in the Saint Luke's Family and all visiting children are invited to take part.
Lenten Programs:
- Wednesday Night Soup suppers for families with a program for children.
- Children are fully incorporated in the rhythm of Lent at Saint Luke's.
- Ash Wednesday Service for Children is held in the Chapel
- Maundy Thursday Eucharist and foot washing for children is held in the chapel
- 10:00 -12:00 Good Friday Prayer Walk is held for children and teens
Easter Vigil and Easter Egg Hunt is held 3:00 Holy Saturday.
