Outreach News

Outreach is one of the core values of Saint Luke’s Parish. We have always been an active and generous parish and we continue to be. Saint Luke’s set aside and raised funds to give Person-to-Person its start over 40 years ago, for example. Through the years, our outreach missions have changed but have never stopped. Today, our Outreach efforts continue and are funded largely through the parish’s annual budget and dedicated funds raised through the Capital Campaign. Additional funds are raised through the Christmas and Easter offerings and at the annual Tag Sale each spring.

Look at what Saint Luke’s Parish is helping to build in Connecticut and around the world!

Habitat for Humanity’s First Affordable-Housing Project in Stamford. Saint Luke’s Parish works with 12 other churches to provide volunteers and funds, called Community Bridgebuilders.

Saint John’s Family Center in Bridgeport. Saint Luke’s supports the renovation of the old rectory which is being converted into a New Food Pantry and Community Closet program, a playground for the Family Center and office space for social service agencies.

Global Aids Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) in Malawi, Africa. Saint Luke’s has adopted three villages in Malawi where AIDs orphans will receive food and education and AIDs patients will receive home-based care from trained Caregivers.

City of Hope, Tanzania, Africa. In a remote village in Tanzania a school, rural health center and children’s home is being built to provide AIDs orphans with hopeful lives. Saint Luke’s is funding the building of four housing units for government and visiting Doctors and Nurses working at the rural health center.

Kasisi Orphanage, Zambia, Africa. With ongoing support from Saint Luke’s, this children’s home houses over 300 children of all ages and is run by an order of Polish sisters.

Invitation to Sponsor a Grant!

We are inviting you to help an organization's program apply for funds from the Forward in Faith Outreach Annual Fund.
 
So far, we have awarded $53,000 and we have $32,000 remaining in 2012 to grant to projects that meet the following criteria:  
As a sponsor, you can serve to shepherd your organization's grant through the approval process as well as participate in a future Discovery Hour where recipients' programs will be showcased.
