Youth Outreach
Outreach is a cornerstone of our youth program here at Saint Luke's. Not only are we committed to doing outreach throughout the year, but we also raise money to travel and do work outside our community.Listed below are brief descriptions of each trip, and how we fundraise to make these trips happen. Also, as information becomes available for the summer trips, you will find it here.
Lewiston, ME
For grades 6-8, this trip brings together our youth group as we help the people of Trinity Church and work in their Jubilee center. The Trinity Jubilee center is a safe haven for the homeless and hungry and is in constant need of repair. During our time at Trinity, we will renovate and work alongside clients from the area. This trip is incredibly powerful and should not be missed!
Cass Lake, MN
For grades 9-12, we travel down to Cass Lake, Minnesota to work with the White Earth Reservation. We spend a week renovating homes, especially helping winterize trailers, and run a Vacation Bible School for the local children.
Youth Sunday
We have two youth Sundays a year, where youth take major leadership roles in our 10 am and 5:30pm worship services. We have a youth preacher, officiant, readers, chalice bearers, ushers, and greeters. These powerful services are wonderful to behold and be a part of!
A Gathering of Angels
For nearly twenty years, the Gathering of Angels has been a tradition of the Saint Luke's youth program. Each spring we gather together for a dinner/silent auction gala. These events are vital for our fundraising process and for the subsidization of our summer Servant Trips to Maine and Minnesota. Without the money raised here, the tremendous work we do would come to a screeching halt. We hear about the youth program, bid on exotic items, and mingle with our fellow parishioners. This event is of course open to the whole parish, we hope to see you there!
