Men's Ministries
The
Saint Luke's Men's Ministries comprise a variety of small group programs,
social events, and outreach ventures. Through these various activities, we
seek to provide opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth for all the
men of the parish.
- Men's Wednesday Night Series
Books, short stories, videos, and members’ experiences provide topics for small group discussion. - Men's Luncheon Series
Meets on the third Thursday of the month for brown bag lunch and a speaker presentation. - Men's Retreat
Each year, all men of the parish are invited to join in a time for rest, reflection and friendship at a retreat at Holy Cross Monastery located at West Park, N.Y. - Men's Outreach Activities
The Men's Ministries outreach and service projects include Pacific House, Homefront and working the Pentecost Sunday Picnic.

Working closely with the clergy, the Newcomers Committee
provides to newcomers hospitality and information about Saint Luke’s in a variety of ways. The
committee hosts welcome events throughout theyear, giving newcomers the opportunity

Welcome to our community of faith! We encourage you to worship often
and to get to know about the life of this vibrant parish and the Episcopal
Church. If you are considering making Saint Luke’s you spiritual
home, please call the parish office, 655-1456. The office will have someone
contact you about orientation and welcome services. Confirmed Episcopalians
entering or leaving the parish are requested to obtain a letter of transfer.
Parish Life
Come join the fun in Parish Life! Our committee provides opportunities for
parishioners to join together in preparing for festive celebrations and fellowship
at Saint Luke’s. Volunteering for a Parish Life activity is a great way
to get to know other parishioners and to insure that Saint Luke’s remains
the warm, friendly place we want it to be.

- Holiday Parties at the Rectory
- Christmas Carol Party
- Advent Wreath-making Project
- Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper
- Pentecost Picnic, and new surprise events throughout the year.
- Thursday Book Discussion Group This is one of Saint Luke’s longest-running small groups. Meet in the Taylor Room on Thursdays from noon to 1:30 p.m., and bring a sandwich. We’ll select the books in the fall. Everyone is welcome. We cover everything spiritual from Adam to Zen.
Women’s Ministries
Under the
guidance of the Women’s Ministries Steering Committee, parish women of
all ages participate in a variety of activities supporting our mission to deepen
our faith through study and worship, community building and outreach. Some
of our activities include:
- Brown Bag Lunch Series with Bible Study/book discussion, Wednesdays, noon to 1:30 p.m.
- The Knitting/Needlepoint Ministry meets monthly on Tuesday evenings
- Monthly “Shared Suppers” at Saint Luke’s LifeWorks in Stamford with the residents of their Women’s Shelter and Gilead House (For the summer only).
- Women’s Retreat - Our 2004 retreat will take place on November 12-14th at the Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, NY. Our retreat leader will be the Rev. Margaret Guenther, a well-known spiritual director and retreat conference leader and the author of many books on prayer and spirituality, including My Soul in Silence Waits.
- Mothers’ Spiritual Enrichment meets Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Taylor Room. This group of women, involved in all stages of child rearing, explores the questions that arise in our spiritual journey. On-site babysitting is available for a nominal fee.
Office Volunteers
The reception desk in the parish office is staffed by volunteers who work
half-day shifts. In addition to greeting guests and answering the telephones,
the volunteers help the staff with many kinds of office work. New members
are always welcome in this vital ministry.
