What To Expect When You Visit

Thank you for considering visiting Saint Luke’s Parish. We hope to see you soon!

Our church is located on the corner of Boston Post Road and Ring’s End Road in Darien and we typically have the following services on Sundays:

8:00 am Holy Eucharist

10:00 am Holy Eucharist with Choir

5:30 pm Come As You Are Eucharist
An informal family service with contemporary music

Where to Park: The entrances to the parking lots are off of Ring’s End Road, behind both in front of and behind the Education Building. There is also on-street parking available on Sundays on the Post Road.

What to Wear: At the Sunday morning services at 8:00 am and 10:00 am many people dress in traditional “church clothes,” including jackets and/or ties for men and dresses and skirts for women. The 5:30 pm service is informal with most people wearing casual clothes (some children even wear their PJs). You are welcome at any service, no matter your apparel.

What to Do With Your Children: Children are welcome in any service, but childcare is available every Sunday from 7:45-11:30 am During the school year Sunday school classes are offered for children of all ages at 9:50 am in the Education Building. During the summer, children are invited to join a story-teller following the Gospel reading and rejoin their parents at the Peace.

What to Expect During the Service: You will be greeted and handed a bulletin as you enter the church which has all the readings, prayers and hymns for that service. In the pew there is a fold-down kneeler that is used during certain parts of the service. The bulletin will instruct when to stand, sit or kneel. During the offering a plate will be passed for money collection. Pass it on to the person next to you or to the usher at the end of the row. During communion we come to the front of the church and kneel at the rail. To take communion, cup your hands to receive the bread. You can dip your bread in the wine cup or take a sip. If you do not want to take communion simply cross your hands in front of your chest and you will receive a blessing. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion. At the end of the service leave through the main doors where there will be a member of the clergy to greet you.

How to Contact Us: Please introduce yourself to one of the clergy following the service and let us know you are visiting Saint Luke's. Also, at the end of each pew there is a small holder with cards for Newcomers to fill out. Please complete one and place it in the offering plate when it is passed.

What to Do After the Service: Coffee is served after every service either in the Parish Hall (lower level of the Education Building) or outside in the cloister area.
