Godly Play

Church School

Saint Luke’s has a rich history of nourishing children with the stories of the Bible. We see our children as the foundation of the church, and we greatly value our Church School program. We aim to create an environment of learning, wonder, and opportunity for our mustard seeds to grow up strong and to be faithful to the teachings of Jesus.

Our Sunday Church School program runs during the school year with four distinctive offerings for children of all ages.  Register here:

Nursery (ages 0-3)

Who: Families can drop children ages 0-3 years in the nursery for reading and playtime with two seasoned and certified childcare providers, Bev and Jen. During worship, if your child is in need, they will contact you by text.

Where: The nursery is in Room 106 of the Education Building, adjacent to the main church. It’s easily accessible and a welcoming environment for all babies and infants.

When: Drop off time is at 9:00AM for those wishing to attend Pathways or at 9:50AM just prior to the 10:00AM service. Pickup occurs directly following the service at approximately 11:00AM.

Godly Play (AGES 3-5)

What: Godly Play—a tactile and engaging Montessori model for learning the Bible—is designed, at Saint Luke’s, for our children ages 3-5. This model of sacred teaching allows young children to enter into the story and learn of God’s profound love in a welcoming, age-appropriate way. Recognized around the world as an optimal way to tell the stories of the Bible, Godly Play provides the children of Saint Luke’s with the gift of mystery and wonder.

Where: The Godly Play Room is located on the 3rd floor of the Education Building, adjacent to the main church.

When: The drop off time for Godly Play is at 9:50AM. Pickup occurs directly following the service at approximately 11:00AM. On the first Sunday of the month, children join their families at the main church service during the “Peace,” at approximately 10:30AM.

Great Adventures
(Grades 1–3)

Who: For children in grades 1-3, the Great Adventures create a lively and engaging interactive space for children to begin a deeper exploration of the Bible. First, all the children gather together for Sacred Story Time at 9:50AM, led by a clergy member or a master story teller. Following the 15 minutes of Sacred Stories, the children break out into age-specific huddles. The huddle groups work together on crafts, projects, friendships, and learning about the story of God, while a parent volunteer guides them through questions and concepts related to the day’s story. Using the Spark House curriculum as a guide, children engage in a morning of exploration, listening, interaction, and fun.

Where: The Great Adventures takes place in the Great Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Education Building, adjacent to the main church.

When: Drop of time is at 9:50AM (sharp). Children  join their families at the main church service during the “Peace,” at approximately 10:30AM.

After exploring the Gospel reading of the day with a clergy member or other master teacher, children converse with clergy and their peers about matters related to faith and spirituality.

Where: Meet on the lower level of the Education Building just off the Parish Hall for the Bible Hangout.
