Our Town

Darien, CT

Darien is a charming residential community of about 22,000 people nestled along the shores of Long Island Sound in Southwestern Connecticut. Located in Fairfield County between Norwalk and Stamford and just 38 miles from New York City, Darien is easily accessed by major thruways and rail service. We have lovely parks and two beaches with ample opportunity for boating and recreation.

Darien High School

We are a community recognized for our excellent schools, active churches (eight denominations), philanthropic organizations and social clubs. Our $73 million High School was completed in 2005 and incorporates much of the smart technology essential to today’s learners. Our Middle School is a National Blue Ribbon School, honored by the US Government for receiving the highest levels of performance. In addition, we have 5 outstanding elementary schools and many preschools, including our own, the Saint Luke’s Parish School. Of special mention is our town’s library (new in 2009) which has recently won the LEED Gold Certification for environmental sustainability.

Our downtown is comprised of a variety of small businesses and we have three new commercial development projects breaking ground within the next two years. A majority of our citizens commute to New York City or surrounding towns. Individuals here pride themselves on helping others, and many are involved with local organizations whose activities benefit those in need.
