Parish Celebrations

Let’s Celebrate

While we take our faith seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We believe that joy and celebration are important parts of the spiritual life, and we host a variety of events throughout the year to bring parishioners of all ages together for fun and fellowship.

Some highlights of the year include:

Homecoming

We kickoff the program year on the first Sunday after Labor Day! Our fall programs begin, and we gather for a big picnic lunch on the front lawn after the 10:00 AM service.

Oyster Roast

Hosted by the Friends of Music, in memory of Judy & Bill Holding, this annual Oyster Roast and BBQ features performances by choirs of children and adults, and music by the Ron Wilson Band.

Blessing of the Animals

This annual, family-favorite is held on the first Sunday in October, close to Saint Francis Day. All parishioners are invited to bring their animals (live or stuffed) to church and the clergy will bless them.

Consecration Sunday & Feast of Saint Luke

We celebrate the feast of our patron saint, Luke the Evangelist, each October with a special guest preacher and fall festival on the front lawn.

Run with the Saints

Saint Luke’s hosts a 5k race on the first Sunday in November (All Saints’ Sunday), followed a Cuban lunch, to help raise awareness and money for our Outreach partners.

Advent Lessons & Carols

During the season of Advent, we celebrate with a candlelight service of lessons and carols in the church, followed by a festive reception in the AYCC.

Children’s Carol Sing

Parishioners with young families come to sing Christmas carols around the organ and celebrate afterward with a family dinner and a visit from Santa Claus.

Easter Rejoicing

The holiest night of the church year is capped by a festive celebration in the Parish Hall following the Easter Vigil service.

Garden Gala

Parishioners gather at the Darien Community Association for a spring garden party, featuring delicious food, silent auction, and raffle prizes, all to raise money for our Outreach partners.

Pentecost Picnic

We close out the program year with a big outdoor BBQ with games for kids to mark Pentecost and the birthday of the church.

Get Involved

Volunteering to help organize one of these parish-wide celebrations is a great and easy way to meet new people and get more involved in the life of the parish. Contact Maggie Domont, Director of Stewardship & Member Engagement, to learn more.
