April 2 - Good Friday

9:30 AM – Way of the Cross | Inside the Church

Throughout Lent, parishioners have prayed the traditional 14 Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoons. We begin Good Friday with this final devotion to Our Lord’s Passion.

10:00 AM – Community Cross Walk | Begins at First Congregational Church

Darien churches gather for the annual Good Friday Cross Walk from First Congregational Church (14 Brookside Road) to Saint Luke’s. This year, the prayers along the way will include a public lament for the more than 500,000 Americans who have died in the Covid-19 pandemic.

11:00 AM – Family Service | Outdoors

The last week of Jesus’ life is enacted by staff and parishioners so that children might develop their own grasp of the power of this story.

12:00 PM – The Seven Last Words | Livestream Only

This pre-recorded service will include short meditations by clergy from local churches on the traditional Seven Last Words spoken by Jesus from the Cross, interspersed with prayers and music.

3:30 PM – Children’s Easter Vigil | Livestream Only

This brief pre-recorded service features music, prayers and readings for Easter offered by our children and youth.

7:00 PM – The Great Vigil of Easter | Outdoors

For Christians, this is the holiest night of the year. What begins as a quiet, meditative service around the new fire of Easter turns into a raucous celebration of the Resurrection and the first, festive celebration of Holy Communion for Easter. The CAYA Band will lead our celebrations in the lower parking lot. Bring your own bell to add to the noise!
